King's Lodge: Solar Power Update

The 5 missionaries from Sierra Baptist Church in Alta, CA, greatly contributed to the installation of the Solar Power system to include; storage batteries installation, rooftop panel mounting and wiring. They also helped to upgrade our well to incorporate a pressure tank, providing pressurized water to the tap. The next water upgrade will include a hot water system.

As of this date, we no longer have a beach at the waters edge, due to the seasonal water level increase of Alexander Creek, after the spring rains and snowmelt. The creek level is now approximately 1 foot up the bank, which will make our boat dock a popular place to tie up the airplanes.

Ministry Update: Kings Lodge now has Solar Power

Tim Turner took the 80 mile round trip river journey to Kings Lodge twice in the past couple weeks. Both trips the water was treacherous due to rushing waters but that did help with the clearance to the hidden sand bars. Later in the year when the water recedes certain areas are difficult to navigate without a jet boat. The first trip delivered a new aluminum frame for the float plane dock and the new solar panels. The second trip delivered a sawmill which can be used to cut lumber to help with lodge repairs. Thankfully the the Sierra Baptist missions team was in town and helped with the install of all the new equipment for the lodge!

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Kings Lodge Update: Heat is a good thing!

In mid-April, the Kings Lodge team was working to establish a year round faith based re-entry program for Alaska Native men who are leaving prison but do not have a place to stay due to parole requirements and their home villages being in remote Alaska.  The first phase of the program is to provide safe lodging which will include constructive work training, biblical counseling, and mentoring in God's word.

One minor detail in remote Alaska is to provide an adequate heat source come winter - which may be a minor task when you can drive down and pick up a new wood stove at a local store. Add in limited funds and a location which is 30-50 trail miles by snow machine or 33 air miles and makes it a little more difficult task.

However combine prayer, old propane tanks, and welders/pilots volunteering their efforts and the lodge now has eight up-cycled wood stoves to take the chill off. Special thanks to Ronnie, Mike, Michael, and Tim for furthering the work at the King’s Lodge!

He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
